The nepetalactone in catnip is a mood-modifying compound that induces a state of euphoria or calm for most (but not all!) cats. Cats are usually affected by catnip for 5-10 mins before the effects wear off.
Tips:
- Sprinkle on toys (or in Hide & Scratch box!) to add some fun and encourage use
- Rub leaves between fingers to release scent
- Use in cat carriers to reduce anxiety
- Experiment! All cats are different!
